Remote notarizations performed by a state-authorized online notary are legally valid in all 50 states — as long as they're completed under that state's laws.

Some states haven't yet authorized their own notaries to perform RON, but they fully accept notarizations performed by notaries commissioned in states that do.​​

Below is a map of the states that have enacted RON laws. A small number of jurisdictions shaded in red (Alabama, California, District of Columbia, Georgia, Mississippi) - do not currently authorize their own notaries to perform RON signings. However, out-of-state RON notarizations are still legal and accepted in those jurisdictions.
